Television’s biggest night is just around the corner.
The 2025 Emmy Award nominations were revealed on July 15 by Harvey Guillén and Brenda Song, with critically acclaimed series like Severance and The Studio leading the way with 27 and 23 nominations, respectively.
Fan favorites like The Last of Us and The Pitt also received several expected nods, positioning them as strong contenders in top categories such as Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, with Pedro Pascal and Noah Wyle competing for the honor.
Still, the nomination list wasn’t without its surprises. Some inclusions — and exclusions — sparked plenty of conversation. The Handmaid’s Tale, for example, wrapped up its final season to strong viewer support but was shut out entirely. Meanwhile, Squid Game, which made history in 2022 as the first non-English series nominated for Outstanding Drama, failed to generate the same awards buzz with its second season.
