Poulin Crowned PWHL MVP, Leads Montréal’s Award Haul
Montréal Victoire captain Marie-Philip Poulin has been named the 2024/25 PWHL Billie Jean King MVP, the league announced at its end-of-season awards ceremony on Wednesday.
Poulin bested Toronto Sceptres defender Renata Fast and former Boston Fleet forward Hilary Knight for the prestigious honor. In doing so, she made history as the PWHL’s first-ever two-time MVP finalist.
The prolific forward had a dominant season, never going more than two consecutive games without a point. She led the entire league in scoring with 19 goals, a remarkable tally that accounted for 25.7% of Montréal’s total goals in the 2024/25 season.
This MVP award caps a truly banner year for the Canadian national, who also earned the 2025 IIHF Player of the Year and MVP honors at April’s IIHF Women’s World Championship.
Wednesday’s win ensures the PWHL MVP award remains in Canada, with Poulin joining inaugural winner and Toronto Sceptres forward Natalie Spooner as the league’s top individual honorees.
Beyond the MVP trophy, the 34-year-old also secured the Forward of the Year award. Renata Fast of the Toronto Sceptres was recognized as the PWHL Defender of the Year.
Montréal Victoire ultimately collected the most hardware of the night. Manager Kori Cheverie was named Coach of the Year, and Poulin’s teammate, Ann-Renée Desbiens, earned the Goaltender of the Year award.
For the season’s top newcomer, last year’s No. 1 draftee Sarah Fillier snagged the Rookie of the Year title after an impressive debut professional season with the New York Sirens.
