During a recent appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Charlize Theron offered a refreshingly honest take on the world of celebrity dating, especially her brief experience with the exclusive dating app Raya.
When asked by a viewer whether she’s on the app, Charlize replied, “I am,” prompting host Andy Cohen to chime in with, “Oh, yeah? I am, too.” She quickly added with a laugh, “I don’t do anything with it.”
Explaining her experience, Theron said, “A friend put me on it, I went on two dates.” But the Oscar-winning actress was unimpressed with what she found: “Every week it’s — every guy has a Burning Man picture. And they’re like a CEO… of nothing.”
“They’re all into fitness,” she added, as Cohen joked, “Or like a creative director of nothing.” Theron agreed, saying, “Then you meet with them, and they’re not. I just say it up front — ‘Why did you put that on your thing?’ No, I don’t like it.”
Though Theron has never married, she’s had several high-profile relationships over the years, including with Craig Bierko, Stephan Jenkins, Stuart Townsend, and Sean Penn.
Beyond her career and dating life, the actress is a devoted mom to her two daughters, Jackson (12) and August (9), both adopted from South Africa. She also dedicates time to philanthropy through her Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project, founded in 2007, which supports African youth through partnerships with local community organizations.
Speaking to People at Town & Country’s 10th Annual Philanthropy Summit, she reflected on what fuels her commitment:
“Some of these young people have survived so much… if they can have that fire in their belly living in these circumstances, then God damn it, we should have a tenth of that.”
