Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) can now move forward with its $14 billion all-cash purchase of Juniper Networks after reaching a settlement in an antitrust lawsuit with the U.S. Justice Department. According to court documents, the agreement requires HPE to sell its Instant On wireless business. Additionally, the new combined company must license the source code for Juniper’s Mist AI software. This joint settlement, which still needs a judge’s sign-off, successfully avoids a trial planned for July 9. Both companies confirmed the deal resolves the government’s concerns, with HPE’s CEO stating it will create a “modern network architecture alternative” for AI-focused customers. The Justice Department had initially sued in January to block the acquisition, citing fears it would lead to an uncompetitive market dominated by HPE and Cisco.
