Jo Frost Opens Up About Living With Life-Threatening Allergy to Raise Awareness
Jo Frost, best known for her role on Supernanny, is using her platform to shed light on a serious medical condition she’s lived with for years.
The TV personality—who fronted the popular parenting show from 2005 to 2011, and again briefly in 2020—recently took to Instagram to speak candidly about her battle with anaphylaxis, a severe allergic reaction that can be fatal.
“I’ve endured more anaphylactic episodes than I care to recount,” the 55-year-old shared in a post dated July 12. “Anaphylaxis is a critical condition triggered by certain foods that can cause my body to react so violently, it requires immediate hospitalization.”
Motivated by her personal experiences, Jo is determined to raise awareness and promote understanding of the condition. According to the Allergy and Asthma Network, more than half of U.S. adults and nearly half of children are at risk of severe food allergies capable of triggering anaphylaxis.
“Millions across the globe—both children and adults—live each day with caution and fear, often lacking the compassion, education, and empathy they deserve from others,” Jo added. “By now, everyone knows someone, or knows of someone, living with anaphylaxis.”
